It's about that stage in being away from home that comfort food is absolutely required. The first taste of home I needed was nachos. You ask, "Nachos in France?" Oui! Jennifer and I had an adventure at Carrefour (the equivalent to Walmart with more groceries) in order to obtain cheddar cheese. This was not as easy as one would think. They don't make cheddar cheese in France, amazingly enough. Fortunately, when we went to the MASSIVE cheese counter, we found the French cheese lady sympathetic. She happens to have a sister in Connecticut who has told her all about nachos, so she knew what we needed. Whew! First comfort food need fulfilled.
The next essential comfort food needed was chocolate chip cookies. My sisters and I have a Thursday night tradition of making cookies together. I miss it already! Therefore, I decided that my cousins and I needed to make chocolate chip cookies. Again, this is not an easy feat because chocolate chips are difficult to find. We had success, once again, at Carrefour. However, the chips are half the size of regular ones and cost three times as much. I must say the quality is better. We are in France, after all!

You can see Michele and I making our respective batches side-by-side because I went into teacher mode. She was a good sport and we enjoyed our cousin time. The cookies got mostly rave reviews and we were told they tasted American.
