A Touch of Rome?

Today we visited the ancient city of Gerasa, now called Jarash. It was once a prosperous city of the Roman Decapolis. It is surrounded by the hills of Gilead and is the area where Jesus healed the Gerasene (Mark 5:20). All this information I pirated from a guidebook to set the stage for the pictures to come.

Jarash has such landmarks as Hadrian's Arch, the Hippodrome, the Temple of Zeus and the Temple of Artemis. I will let you peruse the pictures and enjoy the day as we did.

At the end of our visit, we stopped for coffee to chat with some new friends we met yesterday at Jesus's baptism site. Patricia is from Venezuela and now lives in Jordan with her Jordanian husband, whom she met in Florida at college, and their twin girls. She speaks Spanish, English, Italian and Arabic. Carlos, Patricia's brother, is visiting from Venezuela and speaks Spanish, English and Italian. Their mother, Margaret (she's Irish, but moved to Venezuela in 1949), joined our party today. We had a great time sharing our travel stories and may even meet up again in Lebanon!

Im amazed at how fashionable you manage to look in all of these exotic places. Excellent use of the work-horse jeans, and impressive combinations of your limited pieces Now thats good packing!! :)And your hair still looks SO great in your new shorter cut.
